Adobe PDF issues:

ISSUE: "Internet Explorer (6 or 7) Crashes when trying to view the PDF"
Adobe Systems Inc. is aware of the issue. However they have not offered an official solution.  I did some research and found that this issue occurs after a user has upgraded their version of Adobe Reader 8.0 to the newer 9.0 and 9.1 versions.  An error occurs while many users install the upgrade.

SOLUTION: A reinstall/upgrade or repair of Adobe Reader is necessary. The key element to each of these solutions is ensuring that all browser windows are closed while the installation is in progress.

  1. REPAIR ADOBE READER: Open Adobe Reader 9, and navigate to the “Help” option on your file menu.  Then from the menu, select “Repair Adobe Reader Installation”.  Follow the instructions given. If you have ANY web browser windows open at the time; you MUST close them before continuing the Repair!

  1. REINSTALL ADOBE READER: Click here or open your web browser.  In the address bar, please type (without quotes) www.adobe.com/downloads then press the “enter” key or click on “go” with your mouse. This will take you to Adobe’s Download page.  On the right side of the page, locate the option “Get Adobe Reader”. Click on this button and follow the instructions to download and install the latest version of Adobe Reader. You MUST close them before continuing the Installation!

  1. UPGRADE ADOBE READER: If you are using a version of Adobe Reader that is older than 9.1 (this includes 9.0); you need to install the latest upgrade (9.1). There are two methods obtaining the upgrade: (these options are similar to the first 2 options)

    1. Open Adobe Reader 9, and navigate to the “Help” option on your file menu.  Then from the menu, select “Check for Updates”.  Follow the instructions given. If you have ANY web browser windows open at the time; you MUST close them before continuing the Upgrade!

    1. Open your web browser.  In the address bar, please type(without quotes) www.adobe.com/downloads then press the “enter” key or click on “go” with your mouse. This will take you to Adobe’s Download page.  On the right side of the page, locate the option “Get Adobe Reader”. Click on this button and follow the instructions to download and install the latest version of Adobe Reader. You MUST close them before continuing the Installation!
